Thiruvonam: Kerala’s Festival of Family and Culture

Thiruvonam Celebrates Kerala’s Spirit of Homecoming and Togetherness

Kerala came alive with the vibrant spirit of Thiruvonam, the grand finale of the state’s 10-day Onam celebrations. Families gathered to mark the harvest festival with traditional feasts, beautiful pookkalams (floral designs), temple rituals and colourful cultural programmes.

For Malayalis around the world, Thiruvonam is more than a festival—it is a cherished celebration of family, tradition and togetherness. Many travelled from across India and overseas to reunite with loved ones, making the spirit of homecoming one of the most enduring highlights of the festivities.

Amid the festive colours, sumptuous Onam sadya and timeless traditions, Thiruvonam once again reflected Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and the bonds that bring families and communities together.
