Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month in June with a Host of Program
June is a busy month as we mark Recreation and Parks Month in Mississauga. Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate in a variety of outdoor and indoor activities offered by the City. These programs, activities and events contribute to making Mississauga a healthy, active and engaged community.

The City has a several community centres that offer older adult recreational programs and activities including Erin Meadows Community CentreChurchill Meadows Library and Older Adult CentreFrank McKechnie Community CentreMississauga Seniors’ CentreMississauga Valley Community Centre. Throughout June, older adults can sign up to join fitness workouts and wellness classes including:

Being physically active is good for your physical and mental health. Whether you’re going out for a jog, a brisk workout or looking to connect with nature, the City has lots of great activities for you to enjoy!

TRX Circuit (cardio and strengthen training)

Fresh Air Fitness [In-person]
The outdoor fitness class is a muscle-pumping, high-energy class for every one of all fitness levels and abilities to enjoy.
When: Tuesdays (starting May 24 until August 30), 7 p.m.
Where: Mississauga Celebration Square
Price: Free; No registration, fee or equipment is required
*Please bring your own towel and/or yoga mat

If you prefer fitness, swimming or sports activities, sign up for registered or drop-in programs like swimming, Pilates, total body workouts, cardio, yoga, spinning, Zumba®, kickboxing and more. The City also offers several outdoor amenities for residents to enjoy such as skateboard parksBMX parksbatting cages, sports courts (basketballtenniscricket) and sport fields (soccersoftball).

Mississauga is home to some magnificent green spaces, parks and trails for everyone to enjoy. City parks are great for walking, running, relaxation, individual yoga and meditation sessions. A few resident favourites include Riverwood Conservancy,  Burnhamthorpe Trail,  Lake Aquitaine TrailMeadowvale Conservation Area and Sawmill Valley Trail. They allow you to enjoy the natural sounds and views that can have a relaxing and calming effect on your day. If you have little ones, you might also enjoy taking them to one of the City’s many outdoor pools or spray pads.

If you’re a bike enthusiast, we have you covered. Mississauga has added many bike lanes to our streets, and our network of bike trails span the entire city. Whether you seek an active way to get to work or a little adventurous biking, Mississauga has a bike path for you – check out Mississauga’s cycling map.

Mississauga’s parks also provide an excellent venue for photographers of all levels, showcasing the splendour of nature, public art, and urban design. The majestic trees and colourful flowers are a photographer’s dream.
