Kidambi Srikanth wins Silver Medal at World Championships 2021 in Badminton

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated Kidambi Srikanth for winning a Silver Medal at World Championships 2021 in Badminton.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said;

“Congratulations to @srikidambi for winning a historic Silver Medal. This win will inspire several sportspersons and further interest in badminton.”

Wishing the former world no 1 for his achievement, Union minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted, “Kidambi Srikanth has made India proud by becoming the first Indian man to reach the final at BWF World Badminton Championship in Huelva, Spain and secured silver medal. Congratulations @srikidambi.” Following his wish, several ministers, leaders and other sports professionals made their wishes to the silver medallist. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also wished Srikanth on the win. 

Srikanth Kidambi (born 7 February 1993) is an Indian badminton player who trains at the Gopichand Badminton AcademyHyderabad. He ranked as world number 1 at the BWF ranking in April 2018. Kidambi was awarded with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award in 2018.[1] and Arjuna award in 2015. In 2021, he became the first ever Indian to reach the World Championships final in the men’s singles and win a silver medal.
