Over the past month Councillor Santos & Vicente’s band (Point of Order), have collaborated with local musicians to produce a cheerful holiday music video covering Bruce Springsteen’s version of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. It is a tribute to Brampton’s essential workers and a fun reminder that you can still be joyful and festive virtually and physically distanced, while keeping your friends and family safe over the holidays.

Similar to their “Lean On Me” <https://youtu.be/JvHzvjSvyo4> video, released at the beginning of the pandemic, this Holiday Cheer video shows how Brampton has come together.

“Christmas is just around the corner and as we say goodbye to one of the most challenging years of our lifetime, Brampton has shown tremendous resiliency with a joyful spirit,” says Santos. “Misperceptions of our city may suggest that we are on the naughty list, but Santa knows that’s not true – that’s what this Holiday Cheer video is about.”

Currently in grey-lockdown, Brampton has been one of the hardest hit municipalities during this pandemic. But with a large number of essential workers including a high number of employees in trucking and logistics, many of the city’s residents have been and are still going to work.

“We wanted to show our gratitude to all of our essential workers, small businesses and residents,” said Vicente. “Despite the criticism we have received, our frontline healthcare workers, emergency services, transit, public works, etc. and our big and small businesses, artists, and residents continue to prioritize support for each other.”

With special guest appearances from Mayor Brown and Dr. Lawrence Loh, Santa Claus hopes that people will share this music video which reflects the beautiful spirit and hard work that Brampton contributes beyond its municipal boundaries.

“We have a lot of Santa’s Helpers in Brampton, and even though some think that they deserve coal in their stocking, this city has truly come together to support each other and all of you,” says Santa Claus. “So many of them have risked their own health and safety to keep us all healthy, safe, and fed. Brampton is on the nice list and I look forward to coming to town next week.”

“From the bottom of our hearts we would like to wish everyone in our wonderful city, a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and safe holiday season, and together, let’s build a brighter future for Brampton,” adds Santos and Vicente.
