Shane Warren-Another Yogi Among IPL Superstars

Chris Gayle’s tryst with yoga and how it helped him to rediscover cricketing form has been
making headlines of late. Turns out the “Universe Boss” is not the only IPL star to turn to yoga
to tide over dips in performance.

Another cricketer who adopted yoga to come out of a host of difficulties that he faced in his
career is Shane Watson. He admits that he had tried out everything – from various remedies to
space-age science – but nothing worked the way Yoga did. While the wonders of Yoga were
unknown to him in the beginning, in the initial years of his career he discovered the huge
difference various breathing techniques, meditation and exercises brought to his performance.

He said that yoga has since become an important part of his life and things have changed for
good. He also regrets not starting it earlier in his career as it would have improved his game.
The power of yoga is beyond measure. One can experience life-changing moments if the
practice is done in the right way. No wonder, more and more athletes around the world are
adopting yoga into their daily routines, and reaping its rewards.

When it comes to jaw-dropping performances on the cricket field, Chris Gayle never ceases to
amaze. The 39 year-old West Indies cricketer, who is heading towards his fifth and possibly final World
Cup, gives credit to Yoga for maintaining his form for the game. The ‘Universe Boss’, as he is
known, follows a predominantly Yoga routine to recover and rejuvenate after every game.

This routine, which he religiously follows, has kept him away from going to gym for the past two
months as it works wonderfully in keeping him in shape.

This fitness formula has been working successfully as the cricketer was in his best form and
helped the team score 490 runs in the recently concluded IPL. The maker of 10151 ODI runs
admitted that he is quite happy with his batting and further added that he is focusing a lot on
relaxing and stretching as he wishes to take his renewed form to the ICC World Cup 2019.
